Youngsters hired in apprentice scheme
A DRIVE to tackle youth unemployment has taken a leap forward.
Derbyshire County Council has recruited 32 apprentices into roles within customer services, business and administration and road working.
It is part of its programme to offer 500 placements within the authority and 200 in private industry during the next four years.
Deputy leader Councillor Simon Spencer said: “Around 70 further positions will shortly be made available and I’d urge young people to register their interest so that we can keep them informed.”

Businesses which employ less than 50 people and are interested in gaining a grant of £2,500 to offer an apprenticeship to a young person should call Andy Williams on 01629 538243.
