People 1st announce new executive appointments
People 1st, the sector skills council for hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism, has announced two newly created executive roles within the organisation.
Neil Fletcher, the former head of European training for Honda, joins People 1st as client relationship and business development director. Fletcher brings a wealth of knowledge and experience including leadership of the Honda UK Institute and German Academy Centres of Excellence.
He will build on his strong commercial background to engage with the sector to manage and develop close relationships with industry leaders and to continue to promote the importance of quality training and professionalising the workforce.
“I am looking forward to working closely with employers in our industries to ensure People 1st can help them now and into the future,” he said.
“Developing the skills that employers need is central to People 1st’s function and is not only a cause close to my heart, but also vital for the future of the businesses in our sector.”
The organisation also welcomes Suzy Jackson, who has been appointed to the role of executive director – Hospitality Guild, which operates to transform the profile of and simplify access to high-quality training programmes within the hospitality sector.
Jackson will be responsible for leading all functions of the Hospitality Guild, and her previous focus on managing large-scale operations, developing strategic business plans and stakeholder engagement, will prove invaluable to the role.
“It is an exciting time to be working in hospitality and I am extremely happy to have the opportunity to develop programmes for the Hospitality Guild that will motivate and inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals,” Jackson said.
Brian Wisdom, chief executive officer at People 1st, said that he is confident that Fletcher and Jackson will help drive the organisation’s ability to deliver its objectives.
“We’re extremely proud to attract high calibre people such as Neil and Suzy, who are joining People 1st at an exciting time. They will play a key role in our plan to deliver a skills legacy that will benefit the entire sector.
“We have set significant goals for the coming years and with talented leaders like Suzy and Neil, we are definitely heading in the right direction to achieve them.”
