Building Higher-Level Skills Provision – A guide for independent training providers
Last updated: 15 May 2012
The Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) has produced this guide to help independent training providers maximise the opportunities arising from the Government’s reforms to further education and higher education. It will provide an overview of the higher-level skills landscape and assist in the development of higher-level skills provision.
We are grateful to the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) for commissioning and sponsoring the guide, and would like to thank all the providers who contributed to the publication.
We hope that the guide will prove useful and that it will help independent training providers consider whether higher-level skills provision is appropriate for them and, if so, to begin to develop a strategy for its development.
The Provider Guide and the Provider Case Studies are available to download below.
Higher Level Skills Special Interest Group (SIG)
The AELP Members’ forums provides an opportunity for all members to discuss a broad range of key issues and topics affecting all employment and skill providers in terms of
• higher level skills;
• adult skills single budget;
• curriculum reform;
• employer engagement;
• level 1/Foundation Learning;
• qualification reforms;
• workforce professional development;
• certification/SASE framework compliance; and
• new commissioning arrangements from the funding authorities.
The nature of AELP members’ forums allows all members to participate; the SIG is chaired by an appointed AELP Skills Champion who is invariably a senior manager from an AELP member organisation, with the skills expertise and knowledge of their occupational sector.
