Students at Dearne Valley College learn about the world of work during a careers week.

STUDENTS at Dearne Valley College got to meet potential employers during a week-long event to introduce them to the world of work.

The Wath-based College hosted Employability and Careers Week earlier this month to help prepare students for what is expected of them when applying for jobs.

Youngsters took in a Question Time-style session where they got to quiz a panel of representatives from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Rotherham Youth Enterprise, Holiday Inn and Coalfields Regeneration.

They were also advised on what to include in their CVs and how to handle job interviews.

Careers advisor Laura Schofield said: “The sessions were intended to help prepare them for progression from education to employment. “
