THE Evening Gazette’s new apprenticeship campaign has had its best week to date with almost 300 new opportunities created.

In the sixth week of 100 Days: The Apprenticeship Challenge 279 apprentice starts were registered.
This takes the total created since the start of the initiative to 693.
The Gazette has joined forces with the National Apprenticeship Service to get businesses to take advantage of the huge opportunities offered by taking on apprentices.
Last year we worked with NAS to promote the 100 in 100 initiative to urge firms to start 100 Apprentices in 100 days.
At the end of the initiative 1,355 new apprenticeships had been created.
And the campaign’s weekly average now stands at 115 over the last six weeks.
Alan Wallace, head of employer accounts for the NAS, said he was impressed that so many had taken up the challenge to increase apprenticeships so quickly in the 100-day campaign.
“Apprenticeships continue to go from strength-to-strength with a record number of starts in the last academic year and an increase in growth across all ages, levels and sectors.
“The consistent growth across all ages shows that apprenticeships are helping young people to get into work and gain a qualification as well as supporting employers”
