College to launch employability skills academy
EAST YORKS: Goole College is to launch a specialist employability skills academy later this year.
To be run on the existing campus from September, the academy’s aim will be to equip young people with the skills, knowledge and experiences they need to succeed in life and work.
It will be open to youngsters aged 16 to 19 and will provide paid work experience as well as time in college.
Lynne Richardson, director of learning at Goole College, said the academy would change the way young people are educated and help ensure they get the skills necessary for industry.
Goole College is part of the Hull College Group.
A spokesman there said the programme would be different from an apprenticeship because the employability skills centre would offer on-the-job training alongside academic qualifications so it provided students with a complete package.
Businesses working in partnership with the college include Tesco, Morrisons and Croda.
