‘Apprenticeship is best way to train’
A TUTOR at South Nottingham College says apprenticeships are the best way of training young people.
Tina Chapman is overseeing Jack Bell’s fitness instructor apprenticeship at the college’s Active gym in Clifton.

She said: “Apprenticeships are a really successful way of training staff up. By doing so you can mould them to the standards you’d expect.”
The Post is currently seeking to create a total of 200 apprentice posts in our Get Notts Working campaign.
Jack, 16, is doing a Level 2 gym instructor course at Active. He has also enrolled on a Level 2 activity leadership programme at the college, which he is due to complete in September. His ambition is to do a Level 2 personal trainer course, but he must wait until he is 18.
Get Notts Working is a partnership between the Post, Notts and Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce, the National Apprenticeship Service, Nottinghamshire City and County Employment and Skills Board, local councils as well as companies like Laing O’Rourke.
If you work for a local firm, or run one, and you can offer an apprenticeship, work experience, call Jonathan Smart at Notts and Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce, on 01246 207207
