Elevation Networks

Elevation Networks seeks to develop the leadership potential of young people to increase their employability

Elevation Networks (EN) is an award winning youth employment charity that seeks to develop the leadership potential of young people to increase their employability.

EN works with young people aged 11-25 specifically focusing on groups that are traditionally underrepresented within the labour market and in certain industries. We identify these groups as ethnic minorities, women, young people from low socio-economic backgrounds, students from non-Russell group universities and young people Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

Working with companies and organisations across the UK and internationally, EN seeks to support companies and organisations to develop a strong diversity outreach and recruitment strategy to widen the talent pool. We are creating social change by working with young people both in and out of education.

We run the Student Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) for university students. SLDP is a year-long programme that will support students from non-traditional backgrounds that are displaying leadership potential, but lack the necessary networks and support systems to turn their time at university into an employment outcome upon graduation. Each student selected unto the programme is paired with a sponsor organisation, is able to access networking opportunities, a mentor from their sponsor organisation, skills development workshops, opportunities to give back to the community through volunteering and a place on our diversity internship scheme during the summer, ideally with their sponsor organisation.

For those that are NEET or long term unemployed graduates we run the Elevate Your Future and 360* initiatives. The programmes are aimed at young people aged 16-24 that are not in employment, education or training (NEETs). The programmes run in a three-six month cycle, made up of employability, leadership and enterprise training, work experience and volunteering and a chance to access seed funding to run their own projects in their community or set up their business ideas. Participants on the programme are paired with a peer mentor and receive coaching from local businesses and employees.

This is one of 25 semi-finalist profiles in the Join Our Core competition.
