Leading national training and employability provider, Intraining is helping businesses across the country to access a range of Government incentives aimed at helping local young people into employment
The incentives, including the Wage Incentive Scheme and Apprenticeship Grant, are available to eligible employers who are looking to recruit employees between the age of 16 and 24.
Intraining is offering support and advice for employers looking to provide opportunities for local young people. As well as helping businesses to access vital funding to support recruitment, Intraining can also provide individual support and training in line with the specific needs of the business.
Phil Bonell, Managing Director at Intraining said: We are proud to be working closely with the Government to deliver this support for businesses. In the current economic climate many employers are taking a cautious approach to investing in growth and would very much benefit from these new incentives.
With the unemployment rate for 16 to 24 year olds at its highest rate since records began in 1992, it is extremely important that we do all we can to support and develop young people and enable them to contribute to the local economy.
The incentives are a good way to assist employers with the costs associated with taking on staff, and whilst the different funding streams are all geared towards a common goal, each comes with its own criteria.
The Wage Incentive Scheme is designed to encourage employers to take on 18-24 year olds in a position that lasts at least 26 weeks. An incentive of up to £2275 is available for businesses who recruit someone within this age range, who is currently on the Work Programme.
A £1500 apprenticeship grant is also available to companies employing less than 250 employees, who are either recruiting their first apprentice or who have not taken on an apprentice in the last three years.
There are 40,000 grants available to employers who take on an apprentice aged between 16 and 24. The grant is in addition to the training costs, which are met in full for young people aged 16 to 18 and 50% for those aged 19 to 24.
Phil continued: Getting to grips with the eligibility criteria can be a bit daunting, which is where Intraining comes in. We can provide advice and support to ensure that your business accesses the monies it is entitled to whilst providing individual support and training to those who are employed under these incentives.
